Apparently, I have a reputation;
I quit my job yesterday. This is not something I take or do lightly. It had been coming since the day I started working for the new management. As some know I broke my leg last spring. My boss likes me so much ( I should explain that the new management is my supervisor and not my boss) that he made them wait three weeks after opening for me to be able to fill the position I held last season. This means that the new management had to take up the slack for five weeks as I always start two weeks before opening to get the recreation facilities ready. My boss did hire a part time (20 hr week) position to help cover and decided to keep the position open after my return so there where compensations. I did my best. I worked harder than I had to last year to take up the slack of my lazy supervisor and I started at least a week earlier than I should have. The first week was painful to say the least. They held resentment, more than I had originally imagined.
I had been accused of laziness but the worst part was that my duties now included the work of two full time positions. I worked my ass off and was sore every evening and morning trying to appease these assholes. I did it for the guests and my coworkers as well as the much needed exercise I needed. It took me almost six weeks to heal my leg and at my age I tend to get out of shape quickly.
Anyway, I finally had enough so last Saturday I told him to get off my back and that if he did not like my performance he would have to fire my ass because I am no quitter but I was done listening to his shit. I was off Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday he sent his wife to badger me some more. Unbelievable and unforgivable! I finished out the day and gave him a piece of my mind before I left finishing with; “You win, I quit.”
After a night of worry and angst I got up early this morning and went looking for a job. I got one at just before 2pm. They called me! I got the call on my cell just as I was entering a casino for an interview. Said they heard I was looking for work and knew me by reputation. What?
Sometimes I do love this town.
