my mind, when altered tends to wander late at night.
it wanders to my pipe, where i'm lost [in the color] of the smoke in my brain.
it wanders to the cd player with your cd [of course] and presses play.
it wanders down the hall to the kitchen, [virtual liquor store] and pops a cork.
so many
wanderings
that my mind starts to remember that you

The meandering stream of silver consciousness and your ending brought a smile to my lips, even though the melancholy ache is palpable.

i had a very angsty high last night, haha. between this, chicken scratch, and soda bottle, i'm not completely sure what i was thinking. all i know is that i used pot imagery in all of them, and faint traces of hatred. better than being dry of words though i suppose....
thanks for the comment boo!

It has been months since I dared get inebriated. Pot enhances my mood and I have to get over this funk. This melancholy read hit me with a bit of nostalgia and tempted me to put flame to the chronic.
Then the last word made me nearly wet my pants. I’m in a mood to laugh and I need it so.
Very nice. Thank you.

That explains the sound quality. Try to move the Mac book up above the guitar. We don’t need to see you play. We can hear it well enough. Set it on a tall bar stool or countertop while you sit in a chair. That should give your voice more presence and bring the guitar down to a normal level. You might consider playing with the positioning of soft materials like an egg flat under the Mac book and sticking out a few inches past the microphone to soften the guitar and to take some of the reverberation out of it too. Sit on a bed, or in a room with tapestries, or large drapes. You will be amazed what you can accomplish with household items. Experiment and test if you have the time. I should listen to it again I guess. Some nights I am very tired and can’t sleep. My ears have heard too many Grateful Dead concerts but I thought I heard a lot more repetition in the song.
You have potential. Few ever have the opportunity or voice to do both write and sing. Don’t let anyone downgrade either ability and never smoke.
It often helps to record the melody and then record your singing while playing it back but you will need more equipment than a Mac book unless you have a mixing program like cakewalk. Let someone else play the guitar if you can. Voice is better if you can concentrate on it alone and let your emotions come out of your mouth.
The beauty of a sound technician and good equipment is that it leaves the singer free to sing loud and clear without yelling or trying to force your voice presence. The technician can adjust the levels. Without the tech and equipment you have to find a way to set everything up before you start to accomplish the levels you need. When you no longer have to strum the guitar or concentrate on rhythm, the pre recorded guitar will do that for you, while singing you will notice a lot more emotion and presence in your voice.
Whatever you do don't force it. Your voice must flow easy or you can do damage and it will not sound right anyway. I mention this because I notice that you sing softly and I’m afraid that what I have said will make you try too hard. Just remember that voice is key and the guitar is only rhythm. Watch other grate singers like Sarah McLaughlin. See how she softly pours her emotion and self into her voice while never forcing anything.
