I wonder, where does inspiration wander when it leaves me?
Does it find its way out the front door and around the corner to the local store?
Maybe that’s what happens, the muse jumps out of my head and goes grocery shopping when It needs to be fed.
It could be that It jumps on a plane or hitch hikes a ride on a sight seeing train.
It travels around gathering impressions like flowers. Sometimes gone for weeks, other times only hours.
I think I saw it one day at the park, playing and climbing ‘till long after dark.
I could not decide why it would be there instead of sitting with me in my poem writing chair.
Perhaps it is angry, bored , tired or crazy. It’s possibly sleeping and just plain ol’ lazy.
I don’t really know. It’s a true mystery where inspiration goes when it’s not here with me.

That was so cool I have also wondered the same thing, but when I get to wondering again I'll remember your poem

It is a playful rhyme and a very pleasant read. I see only one way to improve on it and this is only in the flow. “in my poem writing chair.”
It is a playful question and I love questions. It reminds of a favorite question of mine; “Where does your mind go when it wanders?”
