Dying Star
Submerged in darkness Never coming up for air Floating, floating, floating In a vast plain of nothing
Like an astronaut With no spacesuit Like an embryo With no uterus
I'm all alone Slowly dying Decaying from within Corroding to nothing
All the while I float away Not to anywhere Just away from here.
And I shrink Five feet, one foot, One inch, a speck Fading silently like a dying star
Tiny, insignificant me Isolated in the eternal blackness Desperately lost Desperately alone
I'm the only one of color In this pitch black field But I constantly shrink Until I am nothing but darkness as well
