DRAGONFLY
Am I still in this place?
Or on another plane?
Without hearts made of cardboard
Of sawdust
Of glue
Soft, damaged and imapaired
Never...
Beating...
I'm glad I was spared
Now I'm reaching out
And moving up
Even as my eyes flutter shut
I've never been this aware before
When I have butterflies in my stomach
I see dragonflies in the air
The flashing colors are leading me there
And I'm excited at the prospect
Of being steady
Of being safe
Of being lead to a higher place
Your flashing colors are leading me there
So, am I still on the ground?
Or a mile high ship?
Without deadweights on my neck
Of dampers
Of diversions
Sad, shoddy and disarrayed
Always...
Frowning...
I'm glad they look dismayed
That I'm reaching out
And moving up
Even as my mind wanders off
I've never been this aware before
When there are butterflies in my stomach
I see dragonflies in the air
The flashing colors are leading me there
And I'm excited at the prospect
Of being healthy
Of being safe
Of being lead to a higher place
Your flashing colors are leading me there
To a temporal heaven
And a simple delight
Of being close to someone
Comforting
Calming
In flight
With the wings of a stranger
And the words of an angel
As my eyes flutter shut
I know I've seen this face before...
When I have butterflies in my stomach
I see dragonflies in the air
The flashing colors are leading me there
And I am excited at the prospect
Of being steady
Of being safe
Of being lead to a higher place
Your flashing colors are leading me there
To a temporal heaven
And a simple delight
On the wings of a stranger
I am healed
