Desensitization
He said he was anorexic And kept on going to the emergency room Because he was always dehydrated. I smiled, then moved on To more important matters Like what was on TV.
She'd been cutting since age six, Didn't even remember why-- Only knew she was addicted. Took her plastic butter knife, And pressed it to her skin, Laughed because it made a mark. I laughed with her, then continuted eating.
Joe Liberman says games and music are to blame For my desensitization. Sorry, but I ain't never seen Anorexia or self-harm In State of Emergency. I was first exposed in health class.
All Mortal Kombat's taught me Is that bad graphics make games funny And that back back B shoots a harpoon. All Marilyn Manson's taught me Is that some music is kind of loud.
What, then, caused my desensitization? Statistics and my own suicide Brought on by my shitty life and my despair. And what does one troubled teen mean When he's just the same as At least a fourth of us?

Again, another thought provoking piece. I like your poems that are written dealing with current issues. They really give us all something to think about.
