Is this the realisation of "if you cant beat em then join em" I guess it depends on the context that the reader puts on this piece but for me it wos both sad, that somones been so ground down they gave up...but then also uplifting in that somone has in some way found a way to stop fighting an getting on with their life conquered or compromise...awesome ending

Some might also call it a shift in perception or maturity. Or even the dichotomy between philosophy and living.
