ok so recently i kinda messed about with mozilla firefox cos me old tired 3rd hand pc wos getting slow (XP), i wos told that maybe its cos of all the add-on programs mozilla dumps onto it an most you never use. so following a drunk random blokes advice i took me mozilla back to its starting point..i have now LOST me spell-check !! anyone got any clue as how i find it again ? thanks

Sorry this is so late but yes. Every now and then I uninstall and reinstall firefox. It does tend to get gummed up and I could go through the add-ons list but it really is easier and probably even faster to just uninstall/reinstall. After you uninstall check the usual suspect areas for settings files and delete them too. When I’m done I go through all the settings. BTW when you make a change it doesn’t work until you close firefox and start it again. Open FF and click “tools” in the file bar at the top. When you click tools a cascading menu pops up, click “options” at the bottom. The options menu pops up. At the top of the menu there are a bunch of tabs; General, Tabs, Content, etc.. click on the “advanced” tab on the far right. Below these tabs you should now see another row of tabs. It should default to the “general” tab when it opens but if it doesn’t click on the “general” tab. Make sure there is a check mark in the box next to; “Check my spelling as I type.”

cheers i tried wot you said but still nada ..reckon i got some geek style googling to do..pfft wonder if searching for "WTF happened to me spellcheck" will get any results
