dunno much about it TBH..is about the right to bear arms i do know...think i know the solution to the gun crime problem tho..ask EVERYONE "would you like a gun ?" an anyone who sez "yeah"...well their the kind of people you dont wanna give a gun to...simples wiki says that it came about in 1791... i guess it had more to do with having a armed militia just in case the british came back..maybe the guns allowed should be muskets wotever your stand pro or anti i see no reason why anyone should be allowed to own military grade weapons of any sort or any auto/semi auto weapons..sporting rifles i guess but they is usually single shot bolt action rifles..a lot harder to take out a class room full of kids

“.ask EVERYONE "would you like a gun ?" an anyone who sez "yeah"...well their the kind of people you dont wanna give a gun to...simples” -
I like that. It should apply to; administrators, positions of authority, politicians, etc.. My rifle is a single shot falling block action and my pistol is a revolver BTW. No assault rifles or automatics.

ok i know am 'generalising' a lot (have never been to America) but having chatted with a few Americans from various parts of the states it seems to me that a lot of them even if not gun owners themselfs are sooo pro 'right to bear arms' is kinda scary...like you cant even have a sensibly discussion about it!! as if its ingrained into their brains so much it cant be shifted a millimetre
the NRA have proved they aint fit to make any decisions..the last big school massacre they kept quiet for days then come up with the genius idea of arming teachers!!!! MADNESS..guns are the problem so just throw more guns into the mix...teachers to become not just professional educators with all the problems they gotta deal with now but also become professional 'special forces' as well !!

“...like you cant even have a sensibly discussion about it!! as if its ingrained into their brains so much it cant be shifted a millimeter” - Well, it’s a rights issue for most of us here. Guns are the tools that have enforced our rights since we revolted against the tyranny of the British government. They have insured our freedom through both civil and military threat if nothing else. Who would dare invade our country with even the citizens armed like we generally are? There are a lot of levels though and we do have our “gun nuts” and not everyone can be trusted to do the right thing with such a powerful tool. The biggest issue though is personal safety. Ultimately our own safety rests purely on ourselves. With 45 minute plus response times by police authorities and the historical fact that governments always become tyrannical… actually, the list is long, but the fact is that guns exist in the world. Do we want only the criminals to possess them and who else but yourself do you want to rely on for the protection of yourself and family? It becomes a human rights issue for many, including me. Personally, I’d be happier with a sword and bow, but guns do exist.
“the NRA have proved they aint fit to make any decisions..” – The NRA, like all institutions, has lost sight of their original purpose and are now mainly concerned with the money. Requiring teachers to carry guns is madness, but as with our health care system, our government and positions of authority refuse to deal with the real problems at the roots. It seems that money and greed always win over common sense and care.
