sadly these things is nothing new..we been heading for trouble knowingly for a long time..but apparently most of our species prefer little green bits of paper over a future
have always thought that if you look at Earth...its a perfect eco system...then add Humans, we are a virus eating our host, our numbers need to be culled, we need to know how many humans can our world sustain indefinatley then find a way of reducing the population
no answer will obviously adherred to while countries follow their own agendas, so we will go in the end into oblivion, an sadly, not blindly but knowing full well, i just hope we dont take Earth with us when we do

“i just hope we dont take Earth with us when we do” – Nah, don’t worry about her. She takes a licking and keeps on ticking. It takes a long time for her to heal, by our standards of time, but she has been through far worse than we can throw at her. As long as she has a molten core and a magnetosphere life will return. It’s the life she supports that suffers.

LOL Actually, she said our population needs to be culled. That doesn’t mean genocide or wiped out entirely. I see us as a spreading vigorous too and have said so in other threads. There is a limit to the biomass this planet can support but we spread and multiply exponentially much like a virus. Life is tenacious and humans are very much so but my fear is that we may push our luck too far. The threat of nuclear annihilation is incredibly scary. While I believe the earth will eventually heal from such a catastrophe I doubt very much any of us would be around to witness it. Population control is another issue and I certainly don’t have the answer to that one. If we did use our recourses in a more earth friendly way our earth could definitely support more of us but we still have no idea what that limit is. There have been studies along the lines of estimating this but who knows what is and isn’t truly conclusive in this? BTW, welcome to Dark Star Ravenwing. We usually do this in the poetry boards but I noticed you haven’t posted any poetry yet. Nothing wrong with that and these discussion boards get lonely and have been neglected. I just want to make you feel welcome In our other discussion I mentioned not falling for the global warming propaganda designed to separate you from your money and I’d like to extend that warning to this discussion in relation to organic foods. The only food you can be sure is truly organically grown is the food you grow in your own yard. While some of what is labeled “Organic” is reasonably priced much of it is double or even triple the price of mass-grown agriculture. Shop around and compare prices but your best bet is to grow it yourself if you can. I’m all for it but scams come in many forms. I agree with most of what you say and while hemp oil and vegetable oil as a fuel is a step in the right direction there are even better alternatives. Hemp oil would be better used as a pharmaceutical. The use of vegetable oil, primarily oil already used to deep fry foods, is beginning to replace diesel fuel in some instances but mostly because it is cheaper and it still produces some carbon emotions and nearly as much pollution as fossil fuels. Truly clean fuels are even more renewable like solar, wind, water/hydrogen, and geothermal. I ride a bike to work. But one of the biggest and more immediate pollution problems that I feel needs to be addressed is one you never hear about. The food we buy at the store is packaged. That packaging is generally plastic. There is so much of this crap floating around in our oceans that it is actually hindering the search for planes and boats that sink in our oceans. And water bottles? How did they manage to sell that farce to us at such a high price? They are easy to recycle but take a look at the crap found floating around and you’ll see it is largely made up of plastic bottles. WTF people? They charge as much as gasoline for water and soda is pure poison IMO. Pharmaceutical companies are a real problem too. They have their own pollution issues but I think the bigger issue is the fact that they push so much unnecessary crap on us. Some of it is good and very much needed but even something like a statin is over pushed on us. Personally I refuse to take them. Cholesterol should be controllable through diet and exercise. If I can’t get it down to 200 then their number expectations are unrealistic. They felt they weren’t selling enough blood pressure meds so they lowered the accepted blood pressure level from 120 to 110. I’m a diabetic and I was taking Avandia for three years before I discovered it made no difference whatsoever in my blood glucose sugar levels, the trusting fool that I am. Vitamins - most are made through a process that uses alcohol as a solvent. This makes them indigestible. Ask a guy that pumps out cesspools for a living what he most often sees coming out of them still in its raw form and he will say vitamins. Well, that and those little white mice. LOL Organic wholesome food – We are what we eat. As a diabetic I’m not allowed to eat. It makes it easy to eat wholesome foods. When you look at a donut you have to ask if it’s worth it. That easily extends to all foods. My diet is very regular and you would all think it boring. I certainly do but you may be surprised just how much the food you eat affects your health, mood, and energy level. I’m 52 and old men are noted for farting (old fats) but I seldom do because I started writing it all down years ago. What it does to my sugar levels, energy levels, farting, stool consistency, and general comfort level (digestion). I love broccoli but it doesn’t love me. Sigh! When you start writing it all down you’ll start seeing patterns.

Dinosaurs...WTF !! Genocide...double WTF !!
only 15% of earth is suitable for human habitation, this also includes areas for certain other flora an forna. we are on a spaceship, with finite resources, certainly we way we're using them up...no fish,no forests hardly, plants and animals on the endangered list..why ? We are taking their environment cos we in the end are to many
less humans= less factories, less fossil fuels burnt, less need for swathes of forests cut for wood, less mining, less war probly Result....fish stocks increasing, flora an forna increasing, quality of life for all improving
is a very simple equation, a very simple concept....impossible to implement while knee benders to sky gods need placating cos of stupid medieval beliefs, politicians an industry oligarchs rule the people, and people blinkered to wot goes on cos their more concerned with earning to pay for a life they cant afford, or chasing dreams that arent real
human kind will extinguish itself by being human

The real problem with our nature is short sightedness. Chasing the dollar it’s too easy to get caught up in personal gain when if we had our children’s interest foremost in our actions we wouldn’t allow this to happen. We’d probably have to fight more wars though.

Thanks and it sound cool but I don’t own a smart phone. I live so far out in the boonies that I can’t get cell phone reception.
I’m a do it yourself kind of guy and never rely on what others say on any topic alone. I insist on educating myself. You’d be amazed at how many doctors steadfastly stick to misconceptions of diabetes though I’ve run into a few dieticians that seem to know what they are talking about. I always educate myself and I believe this is good advice for every diabetic partly because we are all a little different. For example, potatoes, everyone will tell you that potatoes are strictly bad for diabetics though I have met a diabetic dietician that said this isn’t true for everyone. I found that if I grate them, rinse them in hot water, and fry them in olive oil they work fine for me but I wouldn’t expect that to be the case for everyone. These tools are good educational tools that can guide you in the right direction or give you ideas to check out but I place my medical condition in the same category as my personal safety. Ultimately it is my responsibility. If my aunt had listened to this advice she might still be alive today but to be honest I think her problem was no self control. She liked her pies and pastries more than her health. Our pancreas doesn’t properly regulate our blood sugar anymore so we have to diligently monitor it and eat accordingly but people get into the habit of cheating too easily. Alcohol is the number one killer of diabetics because many people can’t resist it. The drug Avandia was an eye opener for me. It was very expensive and every doctor and pharmacist I spoke to said it was a miracle drug for diabetics. All they know is what they read in the medical journals. For all I know it may work for some people but all it did for me was lighten my wallet and increase my risk for a heart attack.
A good glucose monitor is essential but always take advice with a bit of skepticism and find out for yourself. I can eat anything I want but I have to compensate with drugs and exercise. You can only do so much of either so diet is essential. There are foods that can help. Cinnamon works well for me but some people are allergic to it. Coffee helps if I drink a lot of it, without sugar, but I’ve developed a bad reaction to caffeine and decaffeinated doesn’t work. Spinach, strawberries, lemon peel in a tea, and fish seems to work better than red meat or chicken. They say oatmeal is a good carbohydrate too but it doesn’t work for me. That was a big disappointment because I like it with a few raisins and cinnamon. I love oranges but bananas and strawberries are about the only fruits I can still eat. Avocadoes work very well for me. Stay away from tomatoes and tomato based sauces. Raw onions have a lot of sugar in them but fry them up and they aren’t too bad. These are a few of the rules that I found that work for me but I know other diabetics that disagree with some of it. It’s different for each of us.

“Well, if you are looking at it that way, then shouldn't you ask yourself which is more important to you: the health of your body, or the health of your computer? But why does it have to be a choice between the two? “ –
You missed the point I was trying to make. It is probably a helpful learning tool but I’m way past diabetes 101. I’ve been doing this for more than ten years now. I’m better at it than any app could possibly be. Diabetes is a self management condition; we are all different with different needs and reactions to different foods, drugs, and we have different food preferences. Any app would be very generalized and likely to stick to old treatment doctrine. Our liability laws probably mean it can’t take into consideration none main stream treatments like something as simple as cinnamon. For any app to do me any good I’d have to write it myself and my memory would have to be a lot worse than it is. Believe me, I got this. My doc is always on me about my cholesterol but admits she is proud of my debates management. She asked me how I do it so well and I told her it takes discipline. Most people cheat, I don’t.
A better app for correcting what generally ails diabetics would detect foods like donuts and slap them out of their hands as they go to take a bite because knowing what is best and doing it are two very different things for most people. LOL
