I recently got my old poem folder back, and I'm really considering sending some of my work into professional journals. I've never done so before, so I am very nervous about it. I feel like I have some really good pieces meant for publication that I have refrained from posting due to most journals only taking unpublished work.
While I know where I want to send some, others are undecided. One of my best blank verse poems would be great for The Orion, but they don't take unsolicited poems. So now I'm scouring the internet for a journal that will take a free verse nature poem which also depicts the Solar System.
So, discuss:
-Have any of you sent poems into journals?? -If so, did you get accepted? Rejected? -Thinking about sending any in? -Anyone know a publication where I can send that pesky poem of mine? lol -Any favorite goth publications?

I am pretty new to writing and only have 2 pieces I would even consider spit shining enough to submit. There's a thread located here darkstarpoetry.proboards.com/thread/9923/publishing-membersdedicated to such endeavors, so keep us posted. There are shit tons of journals online (and some publish utter shite, so just do your research). If it's a short poem, there's Shot Glass Journal. Poetryfoundation.org is very well respected. So is Five Points published by Georgia State University and Anvil Press Poetry. Uh, I know of other places I'm just kinda drawing a blank atm. Posting a piece somewhere like a poetry site or workshop isn't considered publishing, so you're probably ok there. It would be a good idea to workshop pieces you want to submit.
