I don't know about society being afraid of cutting, as they think that it's unhealhty and not normal. To be truthful, cutting yourself is very unhealthy. It is, not just mentally but physically. You can get infections and diseases very easilly from cutting. Plus, it is a way to take out anger, but it's not a normal thing to do. By normal I mean healthy mental wise. To mutilate yourself, is very unhealthy. You scar your body and leave it for infections. There are other ways of taking out anger and depression.

I don't think it's the kind of thing you can understand unless you have dont it yourself. I don't think it's as unhealthy of damaging as you make it out to be. There are other ways that are far more damaging, like smoking or drinking.
I have never had an infection from cutting. And it hasn't been that damaging, mentally or physically.

About the scarring thing..... I actually think the scars are the biggest reason I cut... I love scars.... And they're also part of the reason I'm able to go for about a month without cutting---- because admiring my scars or even just knowing that they're there is almost as good as making the scars. I don't really know why scars are so powerful.... I just think scars are beautiful.
Hmm, I suppose it would be a little like tattooing. But I like how scars are more natural.... Even though they aren't as natural as just not cutting in the first place, plain smooth skin is just so boring. I guess the scars are a happy medium between nothing and a tattoo.

You know, now that you mention it, I admire my scars too. Even though I haven't cut in about 9 months, I still look at the scars every day. I do admire my scars. I never realised that before. Hey! I like my scars!

Yeah, 9 months. I've had alot of help from my partner, though. That is, until he married someone else...so now I don't know how long I can keep from cutting. I really really need to. So far I've managed to resist, but I doubt it will last.  |

I started cutting again last month, after making it for 2 months without....my mom found out, and now I'm prisoner in my own home....and life f*cking sucks more than it used to....

hell i started cutting at 10, im 13 now, the longest i've gone is a week hell if i dont do it everyday spaz, i cant help it, so if you dont like it get off my back
i use a very sharp utility blade i got at art. dosent hurt

Oh... I know all too well I was harassed for it, and because of that I don't tell anyone unless we're close friends, I already know THEY cut, or I only know them through the internet so they can't do anything to me. |

Alot of people don't seem to understand. The great thing about this site is that others DO understand. It makes a change to actually be able to talk about it. Besides, I trust everyone here enough to tell them, because I know they wouldn't react badly. People only react badly because they don't understand.
